Northridge, Calif. - The Cal State Northridge Athletic Department is seeking nominations for deserving former Matador student-athletes, teams, coaches and administrators for induction into the Matador Hall of Fame Class of 2012.
The newest members of the 2012 Matador Hall of Fame will be honored at a banquet on February 19, 2012, at the Warner Center Marriott Hotel.
Many outstanding student-athletes have worn the Matador colors of Red, White and Black since Cal State Northridge opened its doors in 1958. An elite group of 108 student-athletes, former administrators, coaches and two teams representing 18 sports have been inducted into the Cal State Northridge Athletic Hall of Fame.
The first CSUN Hall of Fame class was inducted in 1981 that included Dick Enberg (former assistant baseball coach and now distinguished national broadcaster), former Matador and Angels baseball Lyman Bostock, and former CSUN track and field champion and Olympian Julie Brown.
"Cal State Northridge has a rich tradition in athletics, and we would like to continue honoring past student-athletes and teams who distinguished themselves while competing for Cal State Northridge," said Athletic Director Rick Mazzuto.
Any interested person may nominate a candidate by submitting an approved nomination form to The Matador Athletics Hall of Fame Committee. All nominations, in written form, must be submitted to the Committee by September 1, 2011, for consideration for induction on February 19, 2012.
