Hall of Fame Hoopla ...
It's the most important election of the year ... No I'm not talking about Tuesday's presidential election, I'm referring to the selection of several former Matador student-athletes into the Cal State Northridge Hall of Fame on Wednesday, November 5 ... Twenty-eight former Matador standout student-athletes were nominated by the public and by the coaches for selection to the 2009 Hall of Fame class ... The inductees will be honored at a banquet at the Warner Center Marriott Hotel on March 1, 2009 ... A panel of coaches, CSUN athletic administrators, community members and former Matador student-athletes are on the committee that will select the new inductees who will be added to the current CSUN Hall of Fame membership of 99.

Matador Minute ...
Dec. 7 will be a special day for Matador head men's basketball coach Bobby Braswell ... That is the day the Matadors face UCLA at Pauley Pavilion ... But more importantly, it is the 23th wedding anniversary for Bobby Braswell and his wife, Penny ... While the Cal State Northridge men's basketball team is picked to the win the Big West regular season title in a vote of the coaches and media, Matador opponents are also picked high in their respective leagues ... UCLA (Dec. 7, 7:30 p.m.), which has gone to three straight NCAA Final Fours, is the pick to win the Pac-10 title, while Stanford (Nov. 18, 7:30 p.m.) is picked to finish ninth ... San Diego State (Dec. 22, 7:00 p.m.) and New Mexico (Nov. 24, 7:00 p.m.) are two other Matador opponents and they are picked to finish third and fifth, respectively, in the Mountain West Conference ... Rider (Nov. 29, 3:00 p.m.) is picked for a third place finish in the MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) ... Denver (Dec. 9, 7:05 p.m.) is picked for a sixth place finish in the Sun Belt Conference Western Division ... Pepperdine (Dec. 18, 7:05 p.m.) is going through a rebuilding year, and the Waves are picked to finish eighth in the West Coast Conference (WCC) ... Drexel will also be going through a rebuilding season and is picked to finish 12th in the Colonial Athletic Association (CCAA).
