The Week Ahead ...
Josh Jenkins returns home ... Bob Vazquez, Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations, offers his weekly insights on the accomplishments of the teams, coaches, and student-athletes who compete for Cal State Northridge.

Northridge Notes ...
There is always something special when someone has a chance to go home ... Homeward Bound, Home Cooking, Home Sweet Home ... That's how special it will be for Cal State Northridge senior guard Josh Jenkins when the Matadors play the New Mexico Lobos in Albuquerque on Monday night (11/24/08, 7:00 p.m. mt) ... Jenkins was born in Oakland, but moved to Albuquerque at age three ... Jenkins says it was a great experience growing up in the Southwest, a place many people refer to as the "last great frontier"... Jenkins starred at Valley High School where he was named All-State after a superb senior season that saw Jenkins lead the state of New Mexico in points (28.0 ppg) and assists (8.4 apg) per game ... Jenkins is now a senior at Cal State Northridge where he is the team's leading scorer (15.7 ppg), shooting 59 percent from the floor, and will finish his Matador career ranked in the Top 5 in career assists ... Jenkins plans to spend as much time as possible with family and friends while in Albuquerque ... The ticket demand from family and friends to see Jenkins and the Matadors play is huge, but somehow all his family and friends will find a seat in New Mexico's spacious home court, The Pit, which seats more than 18,000 ... Following the game at New Mexico (11/24/08), the Matador men's basketball team returns home the following day to attend class for two days, and then repack their suitcases for the fourth and fifth road games of their current six game road journey ... Thanksgiving Day will be spent on an airplane traveling to the East Coast for games on Nov. 29 at Rider College and on Dec. 1 at Drexel ... The Matador women's basketball team also is picking up a few frequent flyer miles ... The Matador women's team will be making its first ever road trip to Alaska to compete in the Great Alaska Shootout in Anchorage (Nov. 25-26) ... Total distance from Northridge to Anchorage, 2,986 miles.
