Position: Head Coach, Dance Team

Sommer Bethel was appointed head coach of the Cal State Northridge Dance Team in June, 2010.

Sommer started her cheerleading career at the age of nine in Saratoga Springs, New York and began coaching cheerleading in the ninth grade. She continued cheerleading through junior high and high school, and cheered one year in college.

During her sophomore year of college, she began her professional cheerleading/dance career as a member of the Albany Freebirds Arena football team's Fabulous Firebirds Flames Dance Team in Albany, New York. She continued dancing with the Firebirds from 1997-2000.

Afte a six year break from dancing, and a move cross country to California, Sommer joined the AFL again, this time dancing for the 2007 Los Vegas Gladiators Arena football team's Gladiator Goddesses Dance Team, located in Las Vegas, Nevada.

She also coaches the St. Genevieve High Shool's Girl's Dance Team which is a highly competitive and highly respected progam both locally and nationally, competing every year against the top teams across the country.

Sommer has a BA degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Fine Arts. She also has a Masters degree in Education. She also has an A.A.D. degree in Criminal Justice. She attended National University (2003-05), the University of Albany (1997-99) and Hudson Valley Community College (1995-97).
