Ashlie Kite was appointed Senior Associate Athletic Director/SWA by Dr. Brandon E. Martin in August, 2013. She began her tenure at CSUN as an Associate AD on Jan. 24, 2005.
Kite was CSUN's Interim Director of Athletics when the Matadors launched their inaugural Front Row app in April, 2013. She was also instrumental in the recent major renovations in The Matadome (state-of-the-art video production operation) as well as the improvements in the Matador weight room. In her time at CSUN, Kite has overseen everything from compliance, business operations and game management to the Matador Sports Performance program. In addition to her work in the areas of sports medicine, risk management, sports camps and human resources for the department, Kite has also served as sport supervisor for various CSUN programs.
In her position as SWA, Kite works on numerous issues directly with the Big West Conference office as well as the NCAA. She was actively involved in CSUN Athletics receiving a $900,000 grant from the NCAA as part of a three-year pilot program aimed at increasing academic performance among student-athletes.
Kite came to Cal State Northridge from James Madison University, where she served as the Director of Compliance from 1999-2004 in that role, she was responsible for the oversight and monitoring of the Athletic Department's compliance program for more than 750 student-athletes competing 28 varsity sports. While overseeing the NCAA compliance program at JMU, Kite also coordinated the eligibility and financial aid processes for the university's student-athletes, and coordinated the athletic division's rules education program regarding issues.
In addition to her administrative duties in compliance, she also served as the director of a variety of NCAA and conference championship events while at JMU. Kite arrived at JMU in 1990, where she worked for a year in the athletic division¹s equipment operation and served as a graduate assistant for two years. In 1993, she began assisting the associate athletic director with compliance-related activities, and assumed a full-time compliance assistant's position in 1996.
Kite is a native of Elkton, Va. and is a graduate of Spotswood High School. She earned her Bachelor¹s degree in Health, Physical Education and Coaching from Eastern Mennonite University and her Master's degree in Kinesiology with an athletic administration concentration from James Madison University in 1993.
