Matadors Hold Off Alumni in Annual Exhibition

NORTHRIDGE, CA - CSUN men's volleyball held off a spirited effort by the Alumni side as the Matadors won Saturday's annual match by the score of 15-25, 26-24, 25-27, 25-23, 15-10.

More than 30 former Matadors were in attendance as the evening began with an all-alumni match at 5 p.m. The current CSUN squad then took the court to face the alumni which began set one with a formidible squad consisting of former AVCA All-Americans Brian Waite (2004-06), Nils Nielsen (2005), Isaac Kneubuhl (2008), Eric Vance (2008-09) and Kevin McKniff (2010).

Jakub Ciesla and Dimitar Kalchev had solid offensive numbers for the Matadors against the alumni while freshman Schylar Lillethorup set well for CSUN.

CSUN will play its final fall tournament Friday and Saturday (Nov. 20-21) as the Matadors will play at the UCLA SAC Tornament. CSUN will take on USC Friday at 5 p.m. followed by Saturday matches against UCLA (9 a.m.) and UC Santa Barbara (2 p.m.)
