NORTHRIDGE, CA - CSUN women's volleyball has announced its first signing for the 2016-17 season as Morgan Salone has signed a National Letter of Intent with the Matadors.
Salone is a 6-4 middle blocker/right side hitter from Eastvale, CA. She attends Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Eastvale where she was named second team All-Big VIII Conference as a senior. Salone helped the Mustangs to a berth in the CIF playoffs and a 19-11 overall record this fall. A four-year starter for coach Patti Zarate, Salone has played middle blocker as well as right side and outside hitter throughout her high school career. She was The Big VIII league's number two blocker posting 130 total blocks, including 84 solo stuffs.
"Like all of our incoming players, we like volleyball players who are multifaceted and I think Morgan is one of those players," said CSUN head coach Jeff Stork. "At 6-4, people naturally think of her as a net player but I think she can learn the back court skills that will make her a much better volleyball player. She has a good understanding of the game and anticipates where the ball is going so that will help her as a blocker. As an attacker, she has range and variety which will allow her to play in the middle, on the right and even on the left."
