Byers appeared in 26 matches and 92 of CSUN's 100 sets in his third season ... started 24 matches at middle blocker ... ranked third on the team with 130 kills, hitting .388 on 232 attacks which ranked 15th in the MPSF ... averaged 1.41 kills per set ... was CSUN's leading blocker for the second straight season with 75 total, including 13 solo stuffs ... added a career-high 14 aces ... had a season-high 10 kills on .600 hitting against No. 6 UC Irvine (Mar. 3) ... posted five kills while matching his career-high with nine blocks against No. 9 Pepperdine (Mar. 15) ... served a career-high four aces in CSUN's 3-1 win over UC San Diego (Mar. 1).
CSUN - 2016 (Sophomore)
Byers appeared in all 28 matches and 101 of CSUN's 105 sets during his sophomore season ... was named honorable mention All-MPSF for the first time ... hit .424 on the season which ranked among the top 10 in the MPSF ... ranked third on the Matadors with 197 kills and was also third averaging 1.95 kills per set ... led the team in blocking with 94 total blocks (19 solo, 75 assisted), averaging 0.96 blocks per set ... also contributed 23 digs, six aces and six assists ... pounded a career-high 13 kills in CSUN's 3-1 win over No. 11 UC Irvine (Feb. 17) ... hit .900 (9-0-10) in the Matadors' straight set win over UC San Diego (Feb. 19) ... tied his career-high with nine blocks at Cal Baptist (Feb. 12).Â
CSUN - 2015 (Freshman)
Byers appeared in 23 matches and 68 sets as a true freshman ... finished his first season with 81 kills while averaging 1.27 kills per set ... hit .275 on 182 swings ... was CSUN's second leading blocker averaging 0.94 blocks per set (60 total blocks) ... also ranked second on the team with 10 solo blocks ... put down a season-high 11 kills while hitting .455 on 22 attacks at No. 11 Long Beach State (Apr. 18) ... also notched a season-high nine blocks (two solo) to go with season-highs of one ace and one assists against the 49ers ... also reached double figures with 10 kills (.421) at No. 7 Hawaii (Feb. 22) ... recorded five kills and eight blocks at No. 12 Stanford (Jan. 23) ... recorded his first collegiate kill against No. 15 IPFW (Jan. 9).
NATOMAS HIGH SCHOOL
Byers competed in both tennis and basketball at Natomas High School in Sacramento, Calif. ... was an Optimist volleyball All-Star in 2014 ... lettered in both singles and doubles for the Nighthawks tennis squad ... reached the CIF Division VII doubles in 2011 as well as winning an adult league tennis championship ... graduated in 2014 with a 3.0 grade point average.

Born September 29, 1996 in Sacramento, CA ... parents are Patrice and Greg Byers ... his mother played volleyball in high school and his father played and coached volleyball at UC Davis ... chose CSUN over Pepperdine, Cal Baptist and UC Merced ... favorites include Texas volleyball player Haley Eckerman, singer Jennifer Lopez, the TV show "The Walking Dead" and the movie "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" ... lists his greatest sports moment as "beating Long Beach State at home" ... says the best thing about being an athlete is "the extreme competition between two good teams and winning" and the toughest is "staying disciplined and overcoming obstacles" ... majoring in Psychology.
