Men's Student-Athlete of the Week: Stephen Maxwell, Basketball
Sophomore forward Stephen Maxwell led the Matadors to a 1-1 week and
the team's first Big West Conference win of the season. In
Thursday night's win at UC Santa Barbara, Maxwell went for
career-highs with 27 points and 14 rebounds as Northridge
defeated the Gauchos 75-69. Maxwell earned his
sixth double-double in the team's previous eight games and his
third straight overall.
At Cal Poly on Saturday, Maxwell finished second on the team in
scoring with 14 points and went 4-for-5 from the free throw
line. He added five rebounds in 29 minutes of play. For the
season, the Woodland Hills, Calif., native is averaging 14.7
points and 8.2 rebounds per game while shooting 54.5% from the
field.
