Junior left-handed pitcher John
Salas had two efficient starts for the Matadors on the
mound last week against both CSU Bakersfield and Utah Valley
University. For the week, Salas went 1-1 with a 1.98 ERA and
10 strikeouts in 13.2 innings.

On Sunday against Utah Valley, Salas turned in the best performance of any CSUN pitcher so far this season. The La Crescenta, Calif., native went 8.0 scoreless innings and picked up five strikeouts to earn his first win of the year. He did not allow a walk and conceded just five hits as the Matadors completed a four-game sweep for the first time since 2010.
On the season, Salas is 1-3 with a 3.54 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 28.0 innings of work.
