Senior outfielder Cal Vogelsang returned this week from a wrist
injury that kept him out of the lineup since March 1st and
helped the Matadors in a big way. In the team's three-game
sweep against Pacific, Vogelsang had four hits, four
sacrifices and six RBIs.
In his first game back on Friday, Vogelsang went 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in three runs as the Matadors won 6-1. On Saturday, he dropped down a squeeze bunt in the bottom of the eighth to bring in an important insurance run in a 5-2 victory.
Then on Sunday, Vogelsang had a sacrifice bunt and two sac flies to help CSUN to a come-from-behind win over the Tigers. He drove in a run with a sac fly early in the game and brought home the winning run with a walk-off sac fly to center field in the bottom of the 11th. Northridge trailed at
one point 7-2 in the eighth inning but rallied for its third sweep over a conference opponent this season.
On the year, Vogelsang is hitting .293 with 15 RBIs, four doubles and nine sacrifices in just 12 games.
