Joshua Goossen-Brown served as a bullpen coach while redshirting the 2012 season for Cal State Northridge.
2011
In his first season with Cal State Northridge, Joshua Goossen-Brown finished with a .275 batting average, six doubles, one home run and nine RBI at the plate and a 4-3 record with a 4.74 ERA, five saves and 43 strikeouts on the mound. He made his Matador debut as a relief pitcher and threw one inning on Opening Day vs. Seattle University (2/18). He played first base and had his first hit, a homerun, in his first career at-bat vs. Seattle (2/19 Gm. 2). He pitched 4.1 innings and recorded six strikeouts against Valparaiso (2/27 Gm. 2) to earn his first save of the season, earned his first win on the mound after pitching 2.0 innings at home against San Diego State (3/8), and went 3-for-3 with four runs scored and also recorded a save against UNLV (3/15). He had seven hits, three runs and three RBI in the series with Sacramento State (3/18 - 3/19), and also pitched 1.1 innings and recorded his fourth save in Game 2 on 3/18. He pitched 3.0 innings in relief to get the win against LMU (3/27) and, in his first start on the mound, pitched 5.0 innings and struck out five at UNLV (4/5) and nearly threw a complete game at Bakersfield (4/10) with 8.1 innings and 4 strikeouts, earning Big West Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week Honors for April 5-11. He went 1-for-4 with two RBI in the victory over Pacific (4/21), pitched 2.0 scoreless innings to earn his fifth save of the year in a win over UC Santa Barbara (5/6), and threw 2.0 innings, allowing just an unearned run in an extra-inning loss at Long Beach State (5/22). His five saves rank tied for ninth all-time in school history for a single season with Robby Crabtree (1996).

Joshua Goossen-Brown played one season for the Monarchs, racking up an array of awards. Along with winning the Western State Conference Southern Division Championship, Goossen-Brown was named the Division Player of the Year and team MVP and was named as a Southern California All-American and was named First Team All-Western State Conference, ABCA/Rawlings Pacific Association Second Team All-American, Southern California Collegiate Baseball Association All-Star and earned a Western State Conference Gold Glove.
NOTRE DAME HIGH SCHOOL
Goossen-Brown played soccer, football and baseball for the Black Knights of the Mission League, winning the CIF championship in baseball in 2008 and capturing the league title in 2009. In 2009, he was named First Team All-CIF, earning league and team MVP awards after recording 10 wins. Along with being named to the First Team All-Mission League, he was named to the Second Team All-State, First Team LA Daily News and All-Tournament Team of the Anderson Bat National Classic. Goossen-Brown graduated in 2009 cum laude with a 3.5 GPA.
