NORTHRIDGE, Calif. –
The Cal State Northridge Matadors will host a pair of winter baseball camps at Matador Field before the spring season gets underway, head coach Matt Curtis announced Wednesday. The Junior Matador Camp is tailored to players in grades 1-8, while the High School Showcase Camp is limited to players currently in grades 9-12.
The Junior Matador Camp will run from Dec. 27-30, 2011 with instruction running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. All campers will receive lunch daily, as well as a camp T-shirt.
Instruction will be given by the Matador Baseball coaching staff and current Matador players and will focus on hitting, base running, pitching, catching, and infield and outfield drills. Games will also be played each day at camp.
The cost to attend Junior Matador Camp is $200 per camper, but a reduced price of $175 per player is available when five or more campers attend from the same team.
The High School Showcase Camp is scheduled for Jan. 14-15, 2012, also at Matador Field. Registration and check-in for the Showcase is at 9 a.m. each day, with camp running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are only 60 spots available for the Showcase.
The High School Showcase Camp gives players the opportunity to receive instruction from the Matador coaching staff and display their talents through position-specific drills and games.
The cost to attend the High School Showcase Camp is $180 per player or $125 for pitching only, and includes lunch both days and a camp T-shirt. Parking for each camp is $6 daily and is available in Lot E, which is located on Halsted and Lindley Avenues.
