Matadors Ink 10 Baseball Players to National Letters of Intent

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. –

The Cal State Northridge baseball program announced the signing of 10 baseball student-athletes to National Letters of Intent, new head coach Greg Moore announced Tuesday. Included in the group are three Perfect Game Top 1000 prospects and an Area Code Games participant.

The 10 student-athletes will enroll at CSUN in August 2014 and will take the field for the Matadors in the 2015 season.

"We accomplished the goal of this early class. Good people, talented athletes and local talent was the aim," Moore said. "Coach Twohig, Coach Hom and the staff assembled a dynamic group. Their tireless efforts found the unique 'Red Collar' individuals that make CSUN Baseball a program on the rise."

"We met future needs on the field and off. This group is ready for the daily demands and high expectations of DORS Baseball. Each signee showed a hunger to prepare on the field and be a tenacious learner in the classroom," Moore said. "It's truly an 'LA' class. Seven of 10 new Matadors are from the talent-rich San Fernando Valley or immediate surrounding areas, with two international student-athletes."

Perfect Game tabbed one player in its Top 500 in the country: No. 468 Joe Ryan (RHP / Drake HS, CA). One player, Matt Campbell (RHP / Simi Valley HS, CA), represented the Southern California Brewers Area Code Team at Blair Field in Long Beach, Calif., this past summer.

The Matadors welcome in many Top 250 players in their states next fall, including Nolan Bumstead (No. 14 - Alberta, Canada), Matt Campbell (No. 171), Ray Diaz (No. 179), Albee Weiss (No. 224), Kyle Dohy (No. 224) and Justin Toerner (No. 225), according to Perfect Game.
