NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The Cal State Northridge baseball team (23-32, 6-17 Big West) lost 6-0 to No. 9 Cal State Fullerton in the second game of a Big West Conference series at Matador Field. A day after Vincent Roberts stymied the Titans, Tyler Pill turned the tables with seven innings of five-hit baseball to even the series at a game apiece.

Pill, who also had a hit and run scored to aid his effort, did not walk a batter and finished with six strikeouts. Ryan Ackland went the final two innings and allowed just one hit to complete the shutout.

For Northridge, Carlos Gonzalez, Jr. took the loss after allowing three runs, two of which were earned, in five innings. He struck out four and walked three.

Justen Gorski tossed two innings and allowed three runs as well, though all were unearned. Harley Holt threw the final two innings for CSUN and allowed one hit with one strikeout.

Six different Matadors collected singles Saturday. Their best chance of the day might have come in the second. Tommy Simis reached on an error and stole second. With two outs, Adam Barry singled to right field, but Simis was gunned down at the plate.

The Titans got three runs in the first two innings and then added three unearned runs on a two-out rally in the seventh.

The two teams will meet in the third and final game of the series Sunday at Matador Field. The game will be Northridge's final of the 2011 season and the team will honor its six seniors in a pre-game ceremony. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
