Jay Morris, who served two seasons (2008-09, 2009-10) as Director of Basketball Operations at Long Beach State, was named an assistant coach at Cal State Northridge on June 22, 2010.

While at Long Beach State, Morris' responsibilities included all day-to-day operations of the program, including team travel, film exchange and directing all basketball camps and clinics. Morris also served as the strength and conditioning coach for the men's basketball program.

Previous to Long Beach State, Morris served as an assistant coach and strength coach at Westchester High School in 2007-08. The Comets advanced to the semifinals of the Los Angeles City Championships and went to the second round of the state tournament.

In recent years, Morris was a personal trainer and founder of DREAM, where he has focused on training high school, collegiate and professional athletes.

Since entering the collegiate coaching ranks, Morris has been actively working with the NABC. Morris has been a staff member on the sidelines the past two NABC Reese College All-Star games held at the NCAA Final Four.

Morris was a standout basketball and football star at Westchester High School. In 1998, Morris gained all-league and all-city honors as a quarterback. He played one year of basketball at Citrus College before transferring to Cal Lutheran. Morris played two years of football as a cornerback and punt returner. He played one year (2004) for the Bakersfield Blitz of the Arena Football League.

Morris gained his degree in Kinesiology from Cal State Dominguez Hills in 2010.

Jay and his wife, Yavonna, reside in Northridge.
