Cal State Northridge To Face Rider University on ESPNU on Feb. 23
Bristol, Ct - The Cal State Northridge men's basketball team will receive national television attention on Feb. 23 when ESPNU broadcasts the Matadors game against Rider University.

Tipoff is slated for 6:00 p.m. at The Matadome.

The Cal State Northridge vs Rider game is one of 14 games that will be televised during the sixth annual O'Reilly BracketBuster Weekend (Feb. 22-24). ESPNU is televising five games, ESPN2 is televising six games, with ESPN360.com offering coverage of two games, and for the first time, ESPN Classic televising one.

Cal State Northridge is one of 28 ESPNU BracketBusters teams selected from a pool of 100 schools. This year's event will mark the first time games will be televised over three days. The event began televising games over two days in 2006, while the first three years featured every game on a Saturday.

ESPNU, launched in 2005, currently reaches 20 million homes.

The Matadors are enjoying an outstanding season with a 16-6 overall record, and a first place standing in the Big West Conference at 8-2. As the season has progressed, home crowds have grown which included an overflow crowd of 1,632, the largest home crowd in seven years.

Rider University, located in Lawrenceville, NJ, will be a formidable opponent for Cal State Northridge. The Broncs are 17-7 overall, and feature a top NBA prospect, 6-foot-11 senior forward Jason Thompson, who leads the team in scoring at 20 points per game. Thompson is one of the nation's top rebounders at nearly 12 boards per game, and is a candidate for the John Wooden Award, symbolic of the nation's top collegiate basketball player.

The ESPNU BracketBusters concept provides participating programs with an opportunity to play non-conference opponents approximately three weeks prior to Selection Sunday. Each conference selected their participating teams prior to the season and the matchups for the event were determined by ESPN in conjunction with the conferences.

The women's basketball against Long Beach State on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. will be rescheduled with a time and date to be announced shortly. Check back with gomatadors.com for the new time and date.
