Irvine, Calif. - Stand up Lenny Daniel, Rashaun McLemore and Michael Lizarraga. Your accomplishments in 2010-11 by the Big West Conference are being acknowledged.

In a vote unveiled this morning by the league's nine men's basketball coaches, Lenny Daniel was named to the six-member Big West Conference first team. Daniel, who is averaging 16.3 points and 9.4 rebounds per game, was named first team along with Casper Ware and Larry Anderson of Long Beach State, Orlando Johnson of UC Santa Barbara, Shawn Lewis of Cal Poly and Sam Willard of Pacific.

Daniel becomes the fifth Matador player to gain first team All-Big West Conference status. The others were Markus Carr (2001-02), Ian Boylan (2003-04, 2004-05), Jonathan Heard (2007-08) and Tremaine Townsend (2008-09).

Ware was named the Big West Player of the Year.

Dan Monson of Long Beach State was named Big West Coach of the Year.

Rashaun McLemore, who averaged 15.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, was named second team All-Big West Conference along with Javon Borum of UC Riverside, David Hanson of Cal Poly, Darren Moore of UC Irvine and T.J. Robinson of Long Beach State.

The Big West head coaches also voted to recognize Cal State Northridge senior Michael Lizarraga with a special Inspirational Award as the nation's only deaf NCAA Division I men's basketball student-athlete. The remarkable story of Lizarraga's courage on-and-off the court has been well documented by national media outlets such as ESPN.com, the New York Times, CBS, Fox Sports and the Los Angeles Times.

"Lenny Daniel has been a great representative of our basketball program," said Matador head coach Bobby Braswell. "I said if Rashaun (McLemore) was healthy this year, he would be become a part of our success and that's what happened. It has been an honor to coach Michael (Lizarraga) the past four years. Michael has never allowed anything to get in his way to fulfill his dream of playing major college basketball."
