Three down and three to go ... Cal State Northridge is now half way through its longest road trip in 15 years ... After games at Stanford (11/18/08), Cal State Bakersfield (11/21/08) and at New Mexico (11/21/08), it's time to board another jetliner and head from the West Coast to the East Coast for games at Rider (11/29/08, 3:00 p.m. et) and at Drexel (12/1/08, 7:00 p.m. et) ... This six-game trip will cover more than 4,000 miles when it finally ends on Dec. 7 at UCLA ... The games at Rider (Lawrenceville, NJ) and at Drexel (Philadelphia, Pa) are the furthest east a CSUN basketball team has played since the Matadors traveled to Lafayette (Easton, Pa) and Fairfield (Fairfield, Ct) during the 2004-05 season; at Howard (Washington, D.C.) during the 2001-02 season; and at James Madison (Harrisonburg, Va) during the 2000-01 campaign.

Cal State Northridge is 1-3 thus far ... Following a 73-62 win over Cal Lutheran (11/14/08) in the season opener, the Matadors have dropped games at Stanford (103-85, 11/18/08), at Cal State Bakersfield (67-65, 11/21/08) and at New Mexico (85-74, 11/24/08) ... Senior point-guard Josh Jenkins (5-10, 185, Senior, Guard, Albuquerque, NM) continues to lead the team in scoring (13.3 ppg) and steals (10), and is shooting .500 (21-for-42) from the floor ... Willie Galick (6-8, 225, RS Junior, Forward, Nanaimo, B.C.) checks in at 11.8 ppg followed by Deon Tresvant (6-0, 170, Senior, Guard, Long Beach, Ca) at 10.5 ppg and Rob Haynes (6-4, 185, Senior, Cerritos, Ca) at 10.3 ppg ... The only meeting between Cal State Northridge and Rider University took place at The Matadome last year as part of the ESPN Bracketbuster weekend ... Harris Mansell scored 21 points (five 3-pointers) to lead the Broncos to a 73-72 victory ... Ryan Thomspon, who would become an NBA lottery pick in 2008, added 16 points and seven rebounds ... His young brother, Jason Thompson led both teams in rebounds with 16 ... Josh Jenkins (5-10, 185, Senior, Guard, Albuquerque, NM) led the CSUN attack with 21 points while Deon Tresvant (6-0, 170, Senior, Guard, Long Beach, Ca) added 18 points ... This current six game road trek is the longest since the 1993-94 season when the Matadors packed their suitcases for a seven game journey to UC Irvine, St. Mary's, Colorado, Northeastern Illinois, Notre Dame, Sacramento St. and California ... After games at Stanford (85-103, 11/18/08), at Cal State Bakersfield (65-67, 11/21/08) and at New Mexico (74-85, 11/24/08), the Matadors travel to relatively uncharted territory with two games in the East ... Only four other times in the previous 50 years of Matador basketball has the team ventured this far from home ... First, there is a stop on Nov. 29 (3:00 p.m. et) at Rider University which is located in Lawrenceville, New Jersey ... Bobby Braswell, the 2007-08 Big West Coach of the Year, is in his 13th season as head coach of the Cal State Northridge Matadors ... Braswell has coached 359 games in his duties as head coach, and has produced a record of 189-170 (.526) ... Braswell has guided Cal State Northridge to post-season play in each of his 12 seasons, reaching the conference tournament championship game on four occasions ... In past seasons under Braswell, the Matadors have prided themselves on tough defense and a productive offense ... Last year, the Matadors forced the opponents into 557 turnovers, produced 274 steals (#1 in the Big West, #15 in the nation), and outrebounded the opposition, 1,113-1,092 ...
