Matadors Sit Seventh After One Round of Folino Invitational

INDUSTRY HILLS, Calif. - Cal State Northridge opened the spring portion of the 2012-13 season Sunday at the Folino Invitational Presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California. As a team, the Matadors are seventh while Ryan Green is ninth after 18 holes.

At the "Ike" Eisenhower Course at Industry Hills G.C. at Pacific Palms, CSUN carded a team score of 306 on Sunday with UC Irvine leading the nine-team field at two over-par 290.

Green, a junior from Henderson, Nev., fired an opening round one-over 73 and is ninth among 50 players. Green heads into the second round on Monday just four strokes behind Raymond Ho of Long Beach State and Ryan Williams of Sacramento State who share the lead at three-under 69. Green, along with teammate Zach Leonard, had an eagle on Sunday, two of the three scored by the field in round one.

Oscar Sachs and Shane Blanchard, who's competing as an individual, are among eight golfers tied for 26th at five-over 77. Nick Sarian and Leonard are both a shot back in 34th-place at six-over 78 while Kyler Sauer is in a tie for 42nd at seven-over 79. Sauer had the Matadors' best scoring average in four fall tournaments at 73.4.

Individuals will tee-off round two Monday at 7:20 a.m., followed by teams getting underway at 7:40 a.m.
