CSUN Remains Seventh After Two Rounds at Folino Invitational

INDUSTRY HILLS, Calif. - Seventh after an opening round 306, the Cal State Northridge men's golf team posted an identical 306 Monday and remained seventh after 36 holes at the Folino Invitational at Industry Hills G.C.

Of the top six teams in the field, led by UC Irvine's team-leading 577, only host Cal State Fullerton and Sacramento State switched places as the Titans moved from fifth to fourth. At 612, the Matadors are leading both Utah State (614) and Oakland (629) in the nine-team field.

"It is our first tournament of the spring but we really have no excuses," said head coach Jim Bracken. "When we're hitting the ball well we're not puttting and when we're putting well we're not hitting it straight. We made some mental errors over the first two rounds, I would like to see more consistency and see us put one decent round together tomorrow."

The Matadors have a stranglehold on 23rd-place as a trio of CSUN players are tied at nine over-par 153. Kyler Sauer (79-74) made the biggest move of the day as he jumped up from 42nd place with his second round (+2) 74. Oscar Sachs (77-76) moved up three spots from 26th while Ryan Green (73-80) slipped from ninth place following Sunday's round.

Zach Leonard is another stroke back of the trio as he followed up Sunday's 78 with a 76 on Monday and is tied for 28th at (+10) 154. Shane Blanchard, competing as an individual, and Nick Sarian are both tied for 40th at (+14) 158. Blanchard has scores of 77-81 while Sarian has carded rounds of 78-80.

The third and final round will open with a shotgun start Tuesday morning.
