Final Round 314 Drops Matadors to 10th at Anteater Invitational
IRVINE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge carded a final team round of 314 and slipped from ninth to a 10th-place finish Tuesday at the Anteater Invitational at El Niguel C.C.
The Matadors, who were ninth after team rounds of 311-305 on Monday, wound up at 930 after closing with a 314 on Tuesday. Long Beach State led from start to finish in the 11-team field and won the team title at 891.
Kyler Sauer narrowly missed his second top-20 finish of the season as the junior from Thousand Oaks finished tied for 21st at (+11) 227. Sauer wound up posting rounds of 75-74-78.
Zach Leonard moved up eight spots from 43rd to 35th after a final round five-over 77. Leonard finished at (+18) 234 following scores of 80-77-77. Steven Molumby and Oscar Sachs both tied for 46th at (+21) 237. Molumby posted his third straight round of seven-over 79 on Tuesday while Sachs finished with rounds of 77-76-84.
Ryan Green rounded out the starting five as he tied for 52nd at (+23) 239 following rounds of 81-78-80. Jared LeGrand, competing as an individual, wound up 63rd at (+30) 246 after posting scores of 90-78-78.
Cal State Northridge heads to Arizona for its next two tournaments as the Matadors play in the ASU Thunderbird Invitational (Apr. 5-7) and at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic (Apr. 8-9). Both tournaments will be played in Tempe.
