Matadors 17th After Opening Round of ASU Thunderbird Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - Cal State Northridge opened a week in Arizona by carding an opening round 309 at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational Friday at Karsten G.C. The Matadors are being led Oscar Sachs who is tied for 60th.

At 309, the Matadors are 25-over par and are 17th out of 18 teams competing. New Mexico leads the team competition after firing an eight-under 276. Individually, Oregon State's Nick Chianello holds the first round lead after carding a seven-under 64.

Sachs posted a first round four-over 75 and is tied with eight other golfers in 60th-place. Zach Leonard is tied for 74th at six-over 77, Ryan Green is tied for 82nd at seven-over 78 and Matt Siporin and Kyler Sauer both share 88th-place at eight-over 79.

The second round begins Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. (PT), and live scoring will be available on golfstat.com.
