FRESNO, Calif. - Dodge Ward is in the top-15 while the Cal State Northridge men's golf team is in 11th-place through the first 36 holes of the Fresno State Classic at San Joaquin C.C.
Ward is the lone CSUN player among the top-50 in the 13-team field. The junior opened with a four-over 75 before moving up 20 spots with a second-round two-over 73. He is currently tied with five players at six-over 148.
Senior Kyler Sauer was in good shape after an opening round two-over 73 but slipped out of the top-50 following an 11-over 82 in the afternoon round. Sauer is currently tied for 52nd with teammate Aden Louez among others at +13, 155. Louez finished with rounds of 79-76.
Two shots behind that group is Ocsar Sachs who is tied for 61st at 15-over 157 following rounds of 81-76. Nick Sarian is tied for 65th at +16, 158 after posting scores of 80-78 and Michael O'Connor is tied for 79th at +19, 161. O'Connor is tied with Jared LeGrand who is competing as an individual as LeGrand finished with rounds of 78-83.
Nevada (584) carries a two-stroke lead over both UC Santa Barbara (586) and San Francisco (586) in the team chase into Tuesday's final round. CSUN (307-303) is just four strokes out of the top-10 while Cal Poly's Camden Price is the individual leader at two-under 140.
The teams will play 18 holes on Tuesday to wrap up the tournament.
