SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - Cal State Northridge carded rounds of 296 and 289 and is in fourth place after two rounds of the Bill Cullum Invitational hosted by the Matadors at Wood Ranch G.C. Individually, senior Nick Delio is tied for second just two shots off the pace.

In the team chase, Portland (286-295--581) carries a one shot lead over San Jose State (291-291--582), a three shot lead over UC Riverside (298-286--584) and a four shot lead over the Matadors (585) into Tuesday's final 18 holes. Cal State San Bernandino (291-296--587) rounds out the top-five teams in the 15-team field.

"We definitely could have played better," said Northridge head coach Jim Bracken. "We struggled at the end of both rounds, we just didn't finish well but I'm happy that we're only four shots back with a chance to win our tournament."

Delio, a senior from Valencia, Calif., is looking for his first Cullum individual championship in his final season as a Matador. He has finished as high as third in 2009. On Monday, Delio fired rounds of 72-69 and is tied for second with three other players at three-under-par 141. A total of 11 players finished the first two rounds under par as Cal State San Bernadino's Kenny Pigman is the leader after carding rounds of 67-72 for a two-round (-5) 139.

A pair of Matador freshman also played well on Monday as Ryan Green is tied for 13th and Jake Katz is tied for 18th. Green, who is playing as an individual, carded rounds of 75-70 and is at (+1) 145 heading into the final round. Katz completed rounds of 74-72 and is tied with five players at (+2) 246.

"I'm happy with my indies, they all played pretty well," added Bracken. "Ryan Green, a freshman in his first tournament, shot 75-70 which is great for our future."

Sophomore Chris Russo is tied for 28th after back-to-back rounds of 74 left him at (+4) 148, Davis Kirkland is tied for 38th at (+6) 150 after rounds of 76-74 and Satch Herrmann rounded out the CSUN team scoring with a two-round (+14) 158 after rounds of 82-76.
