IRVINE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge senior Nick Delio was named Big West Golfer of the Month for April after leading the Matadors to a fourth-place finish at the ASU Invitational on Apr. 10.
This is the second Golfer of the Month honor for the senior from Valencia, Calif., after picking up the accolade on Oct. 29, 2010. Delio won his first Big West Golfer of the Month award in October of 2009.
Delio finished second individually in a solid field at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational at Arizona State's Karsten Course in Tempe (Apr. 9-10). His fifth top-10 finish of the season helped the Matadors to a fourth place team finish.
The senior carded a three-round total of six under-par 207 (72-65-70) to finish one shot behind San Diego State's J.J. Spaun. Delio's second round 65 matched his 18-hole career low and is the low round by a Matador golfer in 2010-11.
"We only played one tournament this month and Nick had a great finish at Arizona State," said head coach Jim Bracken. "I'm very happy for Nick and it's great that he was rewarded for his good play."
Next up for the Matadors, along with eight other league members, is the 2011 Big West Men's Golf Championship May 2-3 at the Mission Viejo Country Club in Mission Viejo, Calif.
