Four Matadors Earn All-Big West Conference Academic Honors

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. –

Four members of the Cal State Northridge Men's Soccer team earned recognition for their successes in the classroom last fall as the university had student-athletes from each sport represented on the Big West Academic All-Conference list. In all, 125 student-athletes from all nine member institutions received the honor.

Joe Franco, Yuval Barak, Brian Behrad and Taylor Bowlin were each recognized by the league and also saw substantial time on the field for head coach Terry Davila.

"We are very proud of the accomplishments of these gentlemen both on and off the field," Davila said. "Succeeding in the classroom is a top priority and each of these players exemplifies the meaning of a 'student-athlete.'"

The 2011 Fall All-Academic team consists of student-athletes from women's volleyball, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's cross country. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative 3.20 grade point average, complete one full academic year at the school (at least a sophomore academically before the season starts), and compete in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.
