NORTHRIDGE, Calif. –
The Cal State Northridge Matadors men's soccer program will host four matches to close out the 2012 spring season, head coach Terry Davila announced Friday. The Matadors will compete against two teams from the Premier Development League (PDL) on Sunday, Apr. 22 and a pair of California State University programs on Saturday, Apr. 28.
Northridge will first take on the Southern California Seahorses of the PDL in an exhibition on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Matador Soccer Field. Following the match, the Matadors will host the 2010 PDL Champion Ventura County Fusion under the lights at 7 p.m.
Then, on Saturday, Apr. 28 Northridge will put on the 2012 Spring Cal State Challenge, featuring matches against Cal State Los Angeles and CSU Bakersfield at Matador Soccer Field.
The Matadors will face the Golden Eagles, winners of the NCAA Division II West Region Championship in 2011, at 9:30 a.m. Nicolas Ass'ad, son of former CSUN head coach Marwan Ass'ad, is a junior midfielder for CSULA.
Northridge will go up against CSU Bakersfield at 7 p.m. at Matador Soccer Field and face a Roadrunners team that earned an at-large bid into the 2011 NCAA Division I tournament as the No. 25 team in the nation.
"We are excited to host four quality soccer clubs and renew some rivalries to end the spring schedule," said Davila.
Admission for all four games will be free to the public.
