NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -
The Cal State Northridge men's soccer team has earned yet another individual award at the end of one of the most successful seasons in school history as senior defender Yuval Barak was named to the All-American Fourth Team by College Sports Madness. Barak adds the award to his Scholar All-West Region honor earned from the NSCAA at season's end.
Barak served as a team captain for the Matadors over his final two seasons, appearing and starting in almost every match at left back. In addition to helping Northridge shut down the opposition, Barak figured into the offensive attack at times and earned five assists in 2012.
He was a mainstay in the Northridge defensive unit that tallied 10 shutouts in 15 victories. The Matador defense allowed just 20 goals in 22 games and ranked 30th in NCAA Division I with a combined 0.85 goals against average.
With 15 wins, the Matadors compiled their highest win total since 2005 and became just the third team to win the Big West Tournament championship.
Barak is the 15th player in CSUN history to garner All-America honors.
