NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -
Down 1-0 after eleven minutes of action, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (6-3-1) gave the New Mexico Lobos all they could handle for most of the game until the Lobos scored in the 85th minute to defeat CSUN by a score of 2-0 Saturday evening.
CSUN's trip to New Mexico was the sixth game of their seven game road trip, a journey that will conclude this upcoming Wednesday when Northridge returns to Titan Stadium to face Cal State Fullerton as Big West competition resumes. So far the Matadors have posted a 3-2-1 record during their recent travels.
Even though CSUN outshot their opponents 14-12, Lobo forward Michael Green ended up making two of his team's shots count as he was solely responsible for both Lobo goals.
The New Mexico game was the final contest of the Matadors non-conference schedule, over a month;s worth of games that saw Northridge craft a 5-3-1 overall record. Having defeated UC Riverside in their Big West opening match, Northridge will fly home and prepare for their upcomng game against the Titans.
