NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The Cal State Northridge men's soccer team has a slate of spring games on tap over the next few weeks, head coach Terry Davila announced Wednesday. The Matadors will host a doubleheader on their match field Saturday, playing UCLA at 8:30 a.m. and The Master's College at 5 p.m.
The following weekend, Northridge heads to San Luis Obispo for a four-team tournament. The Matadors will compete in the event with the University of San Francisco, Santa Clara and host Cal Poly. Northridge's match times and opponents for the event will be announced shortly.
As it prepares for the 2009 season, the Matadors return a host of talented players. Among those slated to return for the upcoming season include All-Big West honorees Sunghyun Kim, Camilo Rojas, Robert Pate and Chad Borak. The team also hopes to regain the services of Rafael Garcia, Devin Deldó and Moy Gomez, all of whom missed significant time in 2008.
The Matadors and Bruins battled to a 2-2 in their last meeting. In 2007, CSUN recorded its first victory in the all-time series, blanking UCLA, 3-0, on Sept. 29 at Matador Soccer Field. Northridge has never played an official match against The Master's College.
