Matadors Sign a Trio of Players to National Letters of Intent

Cal State Northridge men's volleyball coach Jeff Campbell has announced the signing of Will Parke, Trevor Bryant and Justin Beskeen to National Letters of Intent to play for the Matadors.

Parke, a 6-6 outside hitter from Brea Olinda High School in Brea, Calif., is the first player to sign with the Matadors during the early signing period. He has lettered in both volleyball and track & field earning first team All-Century League honors for the Wildcats volleyball team in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Parke is also a three-time team Most Valuable Player as he heads into his senior season in 2013. He was also selected to play for the USA Select A1 Team in 2011 and averaged 31 kills per match as a junior in 2012.

"Will is a great volleyball player as well as a great athlete," said Campbell. "He's a 6-6 outside hitter that can play either left side or right side, but really he can play any position he's that good of a volleyball player."

Bryant, a 6-6 setter from Nevada Union High School in Grass Valley, Calif., is the second player to sign with the Matadors during the early signing period. He was a first team all-league setter for the Miners and coach Marco Salcedo in both 2011 and 2012 while also earning team Most Valuable Player accolades in 2011. Bryant also earned the Coaches Award as a freshman in 2010. He also competes for the High Performance Volleyball Club.

"Trevor is a big setter, he's 6-6 and a real lanky volleyball player," said Campbell. "He has good movement skills and I think he has a huge upside. I also think his athletic ability is very good and he will be the tallest setter on our roster next year. We're certainly excited to have someone of his caliber come in and train and get better with us."

Beskeen, a 6-6 middle blocker from Bear River High School in Grass Valley, Calif., is the third player to sign with Cal State Northridge during the early signing period. As a middle for coach Lance Mansuetti, he earned first team All-Capital Athletic League honors in 2012 as well as earning The Union Male Athlete of the Year accolades. Beskeen also competed for the Bruins basketball team earning All-Pioneer League and team MVP honors as a forward. He also competes for the Northern California Volleyball Club (NCVC).

"Justin is a real athletic volleyball player," said Campbell. "As a middle blocker, his best attributes are his movement and his quickness. He also has a quick arm and gets up in the air very nicely and we feel like he's got a lot of potential down the road to be an effective middle blocker for us."

"All three players have great attitudes and are really looking forward to being in the program, playing at the Division I level, playing for Cal State Northridge and I'm sure all three will do great things for us," added Campbell.
