Former Matador All-American Doug English Named Head Coach at Northwest Nazarene

Northwest Nazarene Names Doug English Head Women's Volleyball Coach

Cal State Northridge men's volleyball added to its coaching tree on Mar. 7 as former Matador All-American Doug English was named head women's volleyball coach at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho.

English was most recently an assistant coach for the women's team at the University of Delaware (2012-13) and has also served as an assistant at both George Washington and Boise State. 

An AVCA first team All-American at libero for the Matadors in 2003, English still owns the Cal State Northridge single-match record with 26 digs against UCLA in 2003. He ranks second to Ali'i Keohohou in career digs in CSUN history with 913 and holds the third-best career digs per game average (2.27).

English, who was also a first team All-MPSF selection in 2003 as well as an honorable mention pick in 2004, led the Matadors in digs three straight seasons (2002-04) posting a career-best 318 as a junior in 2003. He earned his B.A. in Mathematics Education and was also a four-year MPSF All-Academic selection and was named the 2004 Big West Male Student-Athlete of the Year.

English in one of several former members of the Matador men's volleyball program currently in the coaching ranks which also includes Jeff Conover (USA Volleyball), Dave Rubio (Arizona), Jerritt Elliott (Texas), Mark Rosen (Michigan), John Price (Cal State Northridge), Theo Edwards (Cal State Northridge), Mike Arone (Cal State Northridge), Jeff Baxter (Cal State Northridge), John Baxter (Simi Valley HS), Ali'i Keohohou (Newbury Park HS) and Danny Rodrick (Bishop Alemany HS).
