Cal State Northridge senior Jeff Baxter was named to the 2011 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men's Volleyball Academic All-Conference Team as announced by the conference office on June 1.
With Baxter's selection in 2011, the Matador men's volleyball program has now had 34 student-athletes awarded MPSF All-Academic honors over the past seven seasons.
To qualify, a student-athlete must have a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, must be at least a sophomore academically, must have completed one full academic year at their current institution and have competed in fifty percent or more of their institution's contests this season.
Baxter, a Kinesiology major from Simi Valley, Calif., earned MPSF academic honors for the third time in four seasons. Despite reaching the GPA standard in 2010, he was not eligible because he did not compete in fifty percent of Northridge's matches. This season, Baxter earned the first three starts of his career at setter and had 98 assists, nine digs and three blocks. He appeared in 181 sets during his Matador career and CSUN amassed a 77-46 (.626) record over his four seasons.
"We're very proud of Jeff's academic success," said head coach Jeff Campbell. "He's been a great leader for us on the court over his four years and he's proven that he can also be a leader in the classroom."
