Matadors Finish Undefeated at UCLA's SAC Tournament

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Cal State Northridge wrapped up an impressive Fall tournament season by winning all three of its matches at the Third Annual UCLA SAC Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 22.

The Matadors defeated the host Bruins 28-30, 30-25, 30-21, 30-27 in the tournament finale on Saturday to wrap up their second event title in the last two seasons. Against UCLA, senior Eric Vance pounded a match-high 25 kills in 42 swings while hitting .452. Sophomore Tanner Nua also played well knocking down 13 kills in 21 attacks to hit .380. Juniors Mike Gaudino and Kevin McKniff also added eight kills apiece.

Earlier in the day, Northridge defeated Long Beach State (29-31, 30-21, 30-19, 30-24) and UC Santa Barbara (30-20, 30-27, 30-21). In the win over the 49ers, Gaudino posted a team-best 14 kills while hitting .478 and Nua added 13 kills (.500). Dan Tice (.500) and Theo Edwards (.133) also reached double figures with 11 kills apiece.

Final tournament records: CSUN 3-0, UCLA 2-1, UCSB 1-2, Long Beach State 0-3.
