LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Coming off his first career victory two weeks ago in San Diego, Hunter Hays dominated the field again Saturday at the UNLV Desert Invitational to win his second meet in a row.
Hays ran the 8K course in 25 minutes and 29 seconds, bettering the 26:46 he ran on the same course last year.
The Men finished third overall after losing the tie-breaker to Dixie State. Both teams finished with 47 points.
In the women's race the Matadors won the team title with 50 points, edging out the UNLV Runnin' Rebels. The women were led by Araceli Zainos' 2nd place effort.
The Matadors head to UC San Diego next week, then host the annual CSUN Cross Country Invitational in 2 weeks on the CSUN campus.
