CSUN Finishes Fifth and Eighth at Highlander Invitational

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - In its final tuneup before the Big West Championships, the Cal State Northridge men's and women's cross country teams finished fifth and eighth Saturday at the Highlander Invitational at the UCR Farm Course.

The men's team finished the 6k in fifth place with 155 points as Jackson Higgins led the way with a 50th place finish in a time of 19:14.2. Julio Mora was 56th in 19:32.2, Kamal Chahal was 60th in 19:59m Dylan Haerle was 61st in 20:00.5, Luis Chavez was 63rd in 20:02.0, Marcelo Rosales was 64th in 20:03.6, Martin Santillan was 67th in 20:17.3 and Alfredo Robles finished 68th in 21:19.7.

As a team, the men ran posted 155 points and had an average time of 19:45.58.

For the CSUN women, Megan Magdaleno had a solid 35th place finish as she completed the 5k course in 18:39.9. Alexis Pichardo was 50th in 19:11.8, Rachael Duriez was 66th in 19:39.4, Nicole Rietveld was 72nd in 20:01.0, Annie Weiss was 73rd in 20:10.7 and Kristen Tapia was 80th in 20:40.7.

As a team, the Matador women had 230 points and an average time of 19:32.56.

Cal State Northridge will run next in the Big West Championships which will take place in San Luis Obispo on Saturday, Nov. 2.
