Northridge Finishes 23rd on Both Men's and Women's Side at UC Riverside Invitational

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Both Cal State Northridge cross country teams finished in 23rd-place at the second cross country meet of the 2009 season, the UC Riverside Invitational Saturday, Sept. 18 at the UCR Farm Course.

For the men's squad, CSUN posted 657 points in a total time of 2:18:22.90. The Matadors and an average time of 27:40.58 on the 8k course. Hernandez was the top finisher finishing in 156th place in a time of 26:44.3, Michael McEvoy was 183rd in 27:06.2, Marvin Gonzales was 233rd in 27:54.5, Daniel Garcia was 250th in 28:21.1, Masis Hagobian was 254th in 28:24.0, Tawei Ma was 259th in 28:30.4, Eddie Garcia was 287th in 29:37.8 and Miguel Galvez was 309th in 32:49.5.

The Matador women, running without Lilyana Morejon, were also 23rd with 594 and a total time of 1:38:02.00. The team posted an average time of 19:36.40 on the 5k course.

Zainos paced CSUN after finishing 97th in a time of 18:39.3. Yvonne Castillo-Urbina was just behind in 119th in a time of 19:06.7. Ana Rosaels finished 131st in 19:26.1, Fany Alvarado was 142nd in 19:49.0, Vanessa Carr was 161st in 21:00.9, Rebecca Huffman was 163rd in 21:10.7, Desiree Karotko was 168th in 21:53.2 and Natalie Wollaston was 169th in 22:10.5.

Both men's and women's teams will be in action this Saturday, Sept. 25 as the Matadors travel to the Stanford Invitational.
