VAN NUYS, Calif. - Cal State Northridge senior Lilyana Morejon finished second for the second straight year at the Northridge Invitational cross country meet held Saturday, Oct. 16 at Woodley Park.
Morejon, who finished second to Danielle Domenichelli at last years Invitational 5k run, was second to USC's Zsofi Erdelyi on Saturday. Morejon ran a time of 21:01.1 while Erdelyi pulled away on the final loop to finish in 20:52.7.
Also for the Matador women, Zitlalic Ley finished 24th in 22:05.7, Araceli Zainos finished 35th in 22:39.3, Fany Alvarado finished 40th in 23:02.1, Yvonne Castillo-Urbina finished 42nd in 23:07.2, Ana Rosales was 45th in 23:31.1, Vanessa Carr finished 55th in 24:26.9, Mallory Day was 58th in 24:35.3, Jazmin Martinez was 63rd in 24:55.4, Natalie Wollaston was 70th in 25:43.1 and Desiree Karotko placed 72nd in 26:27.4.
As a team, the Northridge women finished fourth with 124 points. UC Riverside won the women's race with a team score of 42.
In the men's 8k, Olea finished 18th in 25:07.2, Hunter Hays was 31st in 25:55.5, Michael McEvoy was 39th in 26:32.7, Gustavo Hernandez was 49th in 26:56.3, Masis Hagobian was 55th in 27:40.9, Daniel Garcia was 56th in 27:47.7, Tawei Ma was 57th in 27:59.3, Marvin Gonzales was 59th in 28:08.8 and Daniel Gonzales was 60th in 28:12.7.
As a team, the Matador men placed fifth with 145 points. UC Santa Barbara won the men's 8k with a team score of 43 just edging UC Riverside which posted a team score of 46.
