CSUN Women's Hoops to Host Coaches Clinic
The Cal State Northridge women's basketball program will hold a free coaches clinic on October 22 in The Matadome from 9 a.m. to noon. The clinic, open to all interested parties, will cover a variety of topics ranging from X's and O's to video sessions.
"We are excited about the opportunity to show what we do and learn from other coaches in the area," head coach Jason Flowers said. "Being a part of the coaching community is something we take serious, as we work with coaches of all age groups to improve the game."
In fact, the clinic is open to all coaches of all levels, male or female. Among other items to be discussed are individual skills breakdown for post and perimeter positions and a question and answer session with the CSUN coaching staff.
In his second season, Flowers has the Matadors poised to make waves in the Big West Conference in the upcoming 2011-12 campaign. The Matadors return a strong core of players, including Jasmine Erving, Violet Alama and Haley White, while adding eight newcomers with varying levels of experience.
A 2001 graduate of UCLA, Flowers has experienced numerous levels of success as both a player and a coach. Before taking the position at Northridge, Flowers worked as a coach at UCLA, Long Beach State and UC Riverside. His staff has also developed nationally recognized talent at both the high school and intercollegiate level.
For more information on the clinic and to RSVP, interested parties are asked to contact CSUN assistant coach Mario Trutanic at 818-677-4949 or at Mario.email@example.com.
