CSUN Women's Hoops to Hold Postseason Banquet on April 29

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. --- The Cal State Northridge women's basketball program will host its annual postseason banquet at the Orange Grove Bistro on the CSUN campus from 3-6 p.m. on April 29. The Matadors, who finished the 2011-12 season 17-14 and 11-5 in the Big West Conference, will reflect on what was truly a historic season.

The banquet costs $35 per person and is open to the general public. The banquet will also feature the presentation of the numerous Big West Conference awards the Matadors earned during the past season. 

Jasmine Erving earned All-Big West First Team honors to cap off a remarkable career. Janae Sharpe was named the Big West Conference Freshman of the Year and also earned All-Big West Second Team honors. Fellow rookie Ashlee Guay earned All-Big West Honorable Mention and All-Freshman Team honors. Finally among players, Violet Alama received All-Big West Honorable Mention and was named the Big West Co-Sixth Woman of the Year. 

The final Matador to receive an award was CSUN head coach Jason Flowers, who was named the league's Coach of the Year after leading Northridge to the best turnaround in Division-I in the 2011-12 season and tied for the 26th best turnaround in NCAA history.
