LONG BEACH, Calif. --- Senior Katie Holloway scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds, but the Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (0-16, 0-6 BWC) lost to Long Beach State (4-13, 2-4 BWC), 71-56, Saturday afternoon at The Walter Pyramid. Junior Ashley Blake was CSUN's other double-figure scorer, finishing with a season-high 13 points.

The performance was the 31st double-digit game of Holloway's career. She finished 7-of-13 from the field and a career-high 8-of-10 from the free throw line in the game. Holloway is now averaging a career-best 12.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Blake finished 4-of-11 from the field and added four rebounds and one assist in the contests. Freshman Analee Viena-Lota added six points, seven rebounds and set new season highs with four steals and three assists.

Long Beach State jumped out to a 15-0 lead to start the game behind a barrage of lay-ups and jump shots. Northridge missed its first 10 shots from the field in the game and did not score until Holloway knocked down a free throw with 11 minutes left in the stanza.

The Matadors connected on their first field goal of the game when Holloway hit a jumper with nine minutes remaining in the half. Holloway scored the Matadors' first five points in the game.

Hahs set the Northridge career blocks record with about 90 second left in the half, swatting a Long Beach attempt inside the key. Hahs now has 39 blocks for the season, which is the third-most in school history for a single season, and 99 for her career. She added six points, three rebounds and tied a career high with four dimes.

Northridge went into the locker room trailing, 34-20. Blake had seven points in the half, including a pair of 3-pointers. Northridge shot 7-of-28 in the first half (25 percent), but did force 11 Long Beach State turnovers in the half.

In the second half, Long Beach State picked up three fouls in the first 100 seconds of play and Northridge capitalized as Blake scored the Matadors' first four points in the period. Hahs also continued to make her presence felt in the paint, swatting a pair of LBSU attempts in the first three minutes.

Northridge extended the run to 10-4 after Holloway scored on a put-back following a miss from freshman Analee Viena-Lota. Holloway scored eight straight at one point for the Matadors to make the score 43-34 with 13:08 left in the game.

A quick six-point spurt by Long Beach State extended their lead to 52-40 with 8:46 left. However, Ligon canned a 3-pointer to draw it back to 52-44 with 7:53 left in the game.

The 49ers' Karina Figueroa connected on an old-fashioned 3-point play with 3:38 remaining in the game to extend the lead to 61-50 and another LBSU 3-pointer made the score 64-52.

Junior forward Crystian Trice made her first appearance of the season, grabbing two rebounds in seven minutes of action.

The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team continues its road trip with a pair of games in Orange County, battling UC Irvine on Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. and Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 2 at 5 p.m.
