Ligon Scores 21 in CSUN Loss to UC Davis, 86-48
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. --- The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (0-20, 0-10 BWC) lost, 86-48, to UC Davis (13-9, 7-3 BWC) Saturday night at The Matadome. Junior Whitney Ligon broke out of a recent slump in a big way, scoring 21 points, including five 3-pointers, in the defeat.
Ligon was 6-of-14 from the field and 5-of-11 from 3-point range in the game. She added three offensive rebounds and was 4-of-6 from the free throw line. She is now averaging a team-best 12. ppg overall and 13.9 in Big West Conference Play.
Junior Crystal Hahs added eight points, five rebounds and three blocks for Northridge. Hahs is now averaging career highs in minutes, (30.0) points, (7.9) rebounds (4.8) and blocks per game (2.5).
The Matadors shot 36.7 percent from the field (18-of-49) and 41.2 percent from 3-point range (7-of-17). Junior Ashley Blake hit two 3-pointers in the game and finished with eight points. Fellow guard Tonicia Tademy added a season-high nine assists for CSUN.
As a team, the Matadors committed a season-high 35 turnovers, which resulted in 36 points for the Aggies. CSUN did outrebound UC Davis, 34-28, as freshman Analee Viena-Lota pulled down a team-high nine boards.
The Matadors return to action on Saturday, Feb. 16, when they head to UC Riverside to battle the Highlanders. Tip-off from Riverside is slate for 5 p.m.
