Northridge, Calif. - Staci Schulz, who recently completed her fifth season (2009-10) as head coach of the Cal State Northridge women's basketball program, will not return next year, Director of Athletics Rick Mazzuto announced today.
"The University and I greatly appreciate the hard work and contributions that Staci has made during her eight seasons as both a head coach and assistant coach at Cal State Northridge," said Rick Mazzuto, Athletic Director. "This is never an easy decision, but after a thorough review of the Matadors women's basketball program, it has been determined the program needs to move in a different direction."
In five seasons as head coach, Schulz's teams compiled a 36-109 overall record (.248), and a 20-46 (.303) ledger in the Big West Conference.
Her best season was during the 2006-07 season when the team posted a 13-16 overall record and a 9-5 mark (third place) in the Big West Conference.
Previous to her head coaching duties at CSUN, Schulz served as an assistant coach for the Matadors from the 2002-03 to the 2004-05 seasons.
A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
