Matadors Sign Erving in Fall Recruiting Period NORTHRIDGE, Calif. --- The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team announced Wednesday that Jasmine Erving (Huntington Beach, CA/Huntington Beach HS) has signed her national letter of intent to play for the Matadors beginning in the 2008-09 season. As a junior, the 6-2 Erving averaged 16 points and 8.9 rebounds per game and was named Sea View League MVP. Erving brings impressive credentials to the Matadors, including 12 double-doubles during her junior campaign. She has led the Oilers in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots and has been named the team's MVP for three-straight seasons. Following her junior season, Erving was named to the All-CIF Second Team and she has been named to the Sea View League First Team after all of her high school seasons. "Jasmine is a fundamentally sound basketball player who will come in and have to fill some big shoes with the departure of Katie Holloway," head coach Staci Schulz said. "She has been a prominent member of the Cal Swish AAU team, a successful squad that has won national championships." The Matadors host San Jose State in a non-conference game at The Matadome on Friday at 7 p.m. The entire Matadors' season can be heard on gomatadors.com with Sam Farber calling all the action. |
