Matadors Fourth After Opening Round of Big West Championship

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Cal State Northridge women's golf team carded an opening round 313 and sits alone in fourth place heading into Monday's second round of the Big West Championship at San Luis Obispo C.C.

The Matadors trail team-leading UC Irvine (300) by 13 shots with UC Davis (305) in second, Long Beach State (306) in third and Nortrhidge fourth in the seven-team field.

Individually, junior Margo Dionisio fired an opening-round five over-par 77 and is just four shots behind UC Irvine's Michelle Park who holds the top spot after an opening round 73. Dionisio is tied with seven other golfers in a tie for ninth-place heading into Tuesday's second round.

Kendall Patten and Ellen Krausse are one shot behind Dionisio as both are tied for 17th at six over 78 while Sharon Shin is tied for 22nd at eight over 80 and Jennel Alexander is tied for 27th at 10 over 82. 

The competition will continue in the three-day event with teams teeing off Monday, April 22 at 9:00 a.m.
