Matadors in 12th Place After Two Rounds of Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate

PALM DESERT, Calif. - Cal State Northridge carded team rounds of 313 and 315 over the first two rounds of the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate and is in 12th place heading into the final round on Sunday.

The Matadors, looking for their second straight top-10 team finish, have a two round total of 628 which leaves CSUN just one stroke behind 10th-place teams Northern Colorado (627) and UTEP (627). The Matadors are nine shots behind ninth-place Hawai'i (619) while Fresno State (580) is the team leader after two rounds by 15 shots over second place College of Charleston (595).

Individually, junior Clariss Guce was 46th after an opening round seven over-par 79 but moved 34 spots up the leaderboard with a second round of two under 70. Guce, who's second round 70 is the lowest round by a Matador player in three tournaments so far in 2012, heads into the final round nine strokes off the pace at five over 149.

Fresno State's Christine Uhalde (71-69--140) is the clubhouse leader after two rounds as she holds a slim one shot lead over Kathy Boehm of Charleston (73-68--141).

The rest of the Matador squad is well back as senior Margo Dionisio is tied for 38th at (+13) 158 following rounds of 78-79, Remylee Molyneux and Stephanie Bush are ech tied for 59th at (+17) 162 and Sharon Shin is tied for 92nd at (+24) 168. Molyneux was just outside of the top-25 after an opening round 77 but dropped seven strokes to an 84 in round two. Bush opened with a 79 and closed with an 82 while Shin posted rounds of 82-86.

The third and final round is scheduled for Sunday at The Classic Club/Troon Golf.
