Matadors Second After Round One of Lady Cougar Invitational

SAN MARCOS, Calif. - Cal State Northridge put three players in the top-10 and the Matadors sit second after the opening round of the Lady Cougar Invitational at Twin Oaks G.C.

The Matadors carded a team score of 307 and trail host Cal State San Marcos by six strokes heading into Tuesday's final round. CSUN's 307 is its low 18-hole score this season, the Matadors posted an opening round 308 at the Santa Clara Colby Classic last October.

Elisabeth Haavardsholm is tied for third after posting a CSUN-best two over-par 74. Haavardsholm trails Megan Woodland of Victoria and Alyssa White of San Marcos by one shot with 18 holes to play.

Margo Dionisio and Clariss Guce are both tied for sixth at four over-par 76 but are in the thick of the individual chase just three shots off the lead.

Stephanie Bush, who sits 15th, is tied with three other players at nine over 81 and Sharon Shin rounded out the CSUN squad as the sophomore is tied for 21st at (+11) 83.

The Matadors are looking for their second top-five finish in their seventh tournament in 2012-13. CSUN finished a season-best third at the Firestone Grill Invitational in early October.
