Matadors in the Lead After Two Rounds of CSUB Spring Invitational

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Led by Elisabeth Haavardsholm's record-setting second round, the Cal State Northridge women's golf team holds the lead after two rounds of the CSUB Invitational at Bakersfield Country Club on Monday.

Haavardsholm, a sophomore playing in just her fourth tournament for the Matadors, fired a course record and career-low seven-under 67 in the second round and leads the field by eight strokes heading into Tuesday's final round. Haavardsholm opened Monday with an even-par 74 and leads the 26-player field after 36 holes.

As a team, the Matadors are in a first place after posting team rounds of 309-296. CSUN's second round score is a season-low for 18 holes. The Matadors lead second-place Cal Poly by 17 shots while three other teams are also competing.

The Matadors have the top two scorers after two rounds as Haavradsholm's teammate Clariss Guce is second at one-over 149 following rounds of 76-73. Margo Dionisio is seventh at nine-over 157 after posting scores of 80-77. Dionisio and Guce each have an individual win in CSUN's last two tournaments.

Sophomore Sharon Shin is looking for her first top-10 finish of the season as she carded rounds of 79-81 and is 10th at (+12) 160. Stephanie Bush (82-79) rounded out the Matador lineup and is 11th, one shot behind Shin at (+13) 161.
