IRVINE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge junior Clariss Guce was named to the 2013 All-Big West Women's Golf Team as announced by the conference office Wednesday.

The second team honor for Guce, a junior from Artesia, Calif. (Cerritos HS), is the first of her career and the highest for a Matador golfer since Eva Yoe earned first team accolades in 2008.

"Clariss had a wonderful year which was capped off by the first victory of her career," said Matador head coach Annie Young. "She was successful because of her hard work and is very deserving of this award."

Guce played in a career-high nine tournaments in 2012-13 compiling a team-best 75.57 stroke average which ranks third in CSUN women's golf history. For her career, she ranks second to Beth Allen in career scoring average at 77.37.

This season, Guce led the Matadors with six top-10 finishes and also had one top-20 finish. She won the Red Rocks Invitational in early March which was the first individual win of her collegiate career. Her low round of the season was a 70 in the first round of the Santa Clara Colby Classic where she ultimately finished third. Guce also finished second at both the Firestone Grill Invitational (Oct. 8-9) and the CSUB Spring Invitational (Mar. 25-26).

Guce completed the 2012-13 season with a 17th-place finish at the Big West Championship.
